What do you get when you cross a professional basketball player, a professional AFLW player and a Deakin University student? If you answered a team of superheroes, then you’re wrong. However, if you answered Wonder Woman, then you’re not far off the mark.
Monique Conti is well on the way to being one of Australia’s sporting stars in the decades to come. Only 18, she’s an integral member of the Deakin Melbourne Boomers basketball team and was drafted at number 4 in the AFLW 2017 draft by the Western Bulldogs. Within the same season the Bulldogs, who had finished 6th the season before, won the premiership in difficult conditions, with Monique proving to be the pivotal player in a tight match, for which she duly won the medal for best on ground.
Is she a superhuman? ESPN’s Steph Brantz will find out, while exploring how Monique has accomplished so much so early into her career, and if she’s going to conquer any other professional sports she has her mind on.
Steph will also test out those superhuman skills with some surprise challenges that should fully stretch Monique’s capabilities out.
