Over the last decade, the Geelong Cats Football Club has won three premierships, and played in nine finals series. Or, in other words, the Cats have had a historically dominant run. What’s their secret? Of course they’ve had immense footballing talents pull on the famous blue and white hoops with Gary Ablett Jnr, Jimmy Bartel, Matthew Scarlett, and now Patrick Dangerfield and Zach Tuohy running out onto GMHBA Stadium in that time, but is that it? When an important game is on the line, where do these superstars get that extra lift that gets the Cats a win?
Thanks to Zach Tuohy, Patrick Dangerfield and Dr Dominique Condo, Lecturer in Sport Nutrition at Deakin University, and the Sports Dietician for The Geelong Cats, we get a unique insight into the nutrition needed to be an elite athlete for one of the powerhouse clubs of the AFL.
