Deakin cheerleading captain, Sarah Morris

Inside the life of a cheerleading captain

As a first year undergraduate, Sarah Morris took a leap of faith and tried out for the Deakin Dragons with no cheerleading experience. Not only did she get into the team, she went on to become the club’s president.

The commerce student completed her degree in 2015, but before she passed the baton to a new leader, Morris took the Deakin Dragons to the Australian All Star Cheerleader Federation’s national championships.

The best teams from Australia and New Zealand competed for places in the World Cheer and Dance Championships in Florida in 2016.

A lot of blood, sweat and cheers went into the training for this event – watch to find out how the Deakin Dragons performed.
